DoLE Schedules Consultations for NCR Wage Hike

Wage Hike: About 1.1 million minimum wage earners in Metro Manila might see an increase in their current daily pay of P610 this year.

This potential wage hike was announced by the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) on Wednesday. They have scheduled public consultations with the labor and business sectors on May 23 and June 4 to discuss the wage increase in the National Capital Region (NCR).

Following the consultations, a public hearing is set for June 20. After this, the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) in NCR will decide whether to adjust the minimum wage for the region.

These consultations are in line with the President’s Labor Day directive for a timely review of regional minimum wage rates “within 60 days prior to the anniversary of their latest wage order.”

On June 26, 2023, the NCR wage board issued Wage Order NCR-24, which increased the daily minimum wage by P40. This brought the daily minimum wage to P610 for non-agriculture workers and P573 for workers in the agriculture sector, service and retail establishments with 15 or fewer workers, and manufacturers regularly hiring less than 10 workers.
