Scorching heatwave grips Northwest India, with Delhi reaching a scorching 47.6 degrees Celsius. Several other locations across Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi and Punjab also saw highs exceeding 45 degrees Celsius. Heatwave warnings remain in place as temperatures are expected to stay above 40 degrees.

Meanwhile, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to continue in south India until May 23rd, with extremely heavy downpours predicted from May 19th to 21st. The southwest monsoon is expected to arrive in the south Andaman Sea and parts of the Bay of Bengal around May 19th.
